Thanks, Cynthia! Beautifully written. I'm sure a lot of your students will feel comforted to know that even teachers get owies. I bet they'll feel even safer in your class, too, knowing that you'll respect their boundaries!

Hi goodyoga--
Missing you all very much; unfortunately I haven't been able to make it to classes in about a month due to conflicting work/school schedules. I figured I would leave a comment in the unlikely case that it would be possible to have classes later--maybe starting at 8 PM--or earlier--maybe at 6:30 AM? I can't get to work on time if I take a 7:30 AM class and I don't usually get home until around 7:30 PM. I hope all's well at goodyoga and I'm going to try to get to class this weekend!

[...] Upward Facing Dog, like all heart openers, rolls our shoulders back, expanding our rib cage to accommodate a larger inhalation than we would normally achieve throughout the day. This rush of oxygen creates greater clarity in our thinking and adds more productive hours to our day. For those with asthma or congestion, Urdhva Mukha Svanasana is a life saver, as it encourages our breath to rise out of our bellies (no lungs there, folks!) and into our ribcage, so the back supporting muscles of our abdomen stay engaged. Heart openers prevent calcification of the cartilage in our sternum, as well, so we’ll breather easier, even as we age. [...]

What I have found when I ask the question, Who am I?; is that the answer always changes.. by the second. Of course there is some repetetive thoughts like I'm a nice person I'm like everyone else, etc. but I know these to just be mind-generated responses to the idea I have of myself. The closest I can come up with is I am not one thing and depend entirely on context to define myself. If I keep asking the question and just let my mind spew out answers it eventually gets to the point where I know that I just don't know. At this point I sometimes feel a sense of awe and excitement.

Cynthia has a unique talent for guiding students through her creative flows. Every class is fresh and maintains a gentle edge that inspires me to push myself into new poses. She has amazing adjustments and great taste in music that compliments the classes.
