Rebekah

I have been practicing yoga asana for nine years. What began as a departure from dance to maintain fitness has expanded into a practice far beyond the physical.

Yoga has taught me how to meet life with increased physical, mental, and cosmic fluency, and with a smile, a cool head, and friendliness.

My interest in classical hatha and modern yoga plumbs the repertoires of Vinyasa’s lyrical flow, Ashtanga’s disciplined rigor, and Iyengar’s precise alignment. I hope to share with others the great gift, the practical science, the omnipresent subtle surprise that is yoga.

Hailing from Smyrna, GA, I graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in 2005 now reside in Brooklyn, NY with my athletic cat Wolfy. I recently completed 500 hour certification at Yoga Sutra in New York City, and am furthering my studies of Sanskrit.

Rebekah has a lot of biomechanical knowledge and I appreciate her insights about the human body that she shares. For instance, she talks about slightly internally rotating the legs to alleviate stress on the low back/sacrum. Keeping this in mind, not just in class, but when walking, sitting, riding my bike, standing, etc has really helped me to be pain free more of the time. Thank you!

In particular, the timing of the sequence and the adjustments were very good. I’d also love to see more pranayama incorporated to any/all classes

    Rebecca’s classes are always enjoyable.
I like that they are suitable for all levels yet challenging if you like to practice more advanced techniques. She seems to fluently encompass something for everyone.
Personally i like that she incorporates balances & inversions with a little bit of a workshop nature without interrupting a more cardiovascular vinyasa flow.
    Hooray for Rebecca!

  4. Rebekah also has a very lovely voice and often chants from the sutras at the end of class. Restorative on Sunday evenings is a pleasure, especially after a long run or maybe just if your body needs some extra kindness.

rebekah has helped to take the fear out of my practice. her dedication to her own practice and awareness of her own humanity as regards yoga has made her malleable, literally and figuratively, she knows how to bend herself to the needs of her students. she’s a decent friend too.
